This is the site for opera fans everywhere! With six languages from which to choose, people around the world can enjoy Operabase. The site offers a daily-updated list of worldwide articles relating to opera. Current schedules for opera shows are posted and updated with detailed information. There are news and reviews, a map of the world with all opera houses searchable, and searches for operas by singer, producer or composer: if that is not enough, there is even an opera reference section on opera.

Oscar Peterson: A Jazz Sensation

The National Library of Canada offers this site as a tribute to Canada’s best known jazz great Oscar Peterson. With several links, you have access to The Man, The Legend and even an Audio Tour. An accomplished pianist Peterson has played with Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie and Billie Holiday, to name a few. You can learn about his advocacy for racial equality and his passion for jazz education initiatives. The Audio Tour offers music from the 1940s all the way to the present. The web site is both in English and French.

Classical News

This classical radio Web site boasts that it is “The World’s Classical Radio Station.” It includes live music Webcasts, downloads of certain songs and pictures and a link to a page that offers classical music paraphernalia called the “Chopin Mall.” Free e-mail addresses are offered as well as links to other Beethoven sites. Classical music news is present on the home page. This site is easy to browse through and is good for listening to classical music and finding out current news about this genre of music.

Easy to Find Sheet Music

Plug in any musical composer or composition and click Mutopia’s search button to download and print free sheet music. Hunt for sheet music by styles such as baroque, classical, jazz, renaissance and romantic, or browse by instrument. A fun site no matter what period one is looking for in music history.
