Concert Interviews
Which three concerts/performances have you attended in the past that moved you for the musical ability and skill of the artist/ band? What was it about the show that still stays with you?
Queen Esther:
1. Parliament-Funkadelic. They played for so long, and they were so relentless with their brand of funk that they literally wore out the audience. People just gave up and left because they were so exhausted.
2. Fishbone. The intensity, the immediacy, the power, and the glory of this band in their prime can’t possibly be overstated. As a performer and frontperson, Angelo Moore was peerless -- and he probably still is.
3. This would have to be a tie between The Cramps and The Allman Brothers. Both bands are blues-based rock and roll in totally different directions that tweak me in all the right ways. The shows I went to were always filled with an unbridled joy underneath it all that even now, I find difficult to describe.
